Workshop 1: Intro to Beading- Thursday, September 9th from 5:30pm-8:30pm
We will start by covering the basics of bead weaving. In this session you will learn about different types of beads and supplies available, essential tools, valuable techniques to keep in mind, color theory, and we learn four different stitches- brick stitch, herringbone stitch, ladder stitch, and square stitch.
You will also design and make your first beaded project using one of the stiches we learn- your choice between a bracelet or set of earrings.
Note- a list of required supplies will be provided upon completion of registration, and all the supplies needed will be available for purchase at the start of the workshop.
Workshop 2: All About Peyote- Thursday, October 7th from 5:30pm-8:30pm
Peyote stitch is perhaps the most popular stitch in bead weaving and deserves its own session! In this session you will learn how to master even and odd count peyote, and we will also cover 2 & 3 drop peyote. We will continue to explore more advanced tips and techniques.
You will also design and make a peyote stitched beaded project; either a bracelet or set of earrings!
Note- a list of required supplies will be provided upon completion of registration, and all the supplies needed will be available for purchase at the start of the workshop.
Workshop 3: Right Angle Weave- Thursday, November 4th from 5:30pm-8:30pm
Right angle weave (RAW) is the next category of stitches that we will explore. We will review variations on this powerful stitch, such as the more advanced CRAW and PRAW, although we will focus on the more basic RAW and pondo stiches in this session.
You will also design and make a RAW stitched beaded project- a tennis bracelet.
Note- a list of required supplies will be provided upon completion of registration, and all the supplies needed will be available for purchase at the start of the workshop.
Workshop 4: Beaded Ropes and Chain- Thursday, December 2nd from 5:30pm-8:30pm
This session will focus on making beaded ropes and chain. You will use techniques learned in earlier sessions to apply to more complicated stiches like the Dutch spiral and herringbone rope. We will also revisit some basic stitches learned in earlier classes and look how we can apply them to more advanced designs with endless possibilities.
You will also design and make a Dutch Spiral stitched beaded project- a rope necklace
Note- a list of required supplies will be provided upon completion of registration, and all the supplies needed will be available for purchase at the start of the workshop.
